The Downs View network
The Downs View Life Skills College is part of the wider Downs View network, made up of

(both maintained specialist provision in Brighton and Hove) and the Life Skills College itself, which is an Independent Specialist Provider with charity status.

Across the network we have clearly defined ways of working with and teaching our complex population which deliver high standards consistently over time. It is this organisational culture, integrity and strategic capacity that ensures that the Life Skills College is of equally high standard.
Who we are
We support young people aged 19-25 years who have Education Health and Care (EHC) plans for a range of complex needs relating to their Cognition and Learning, such as profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and severe learning difficulties (SLD). Many of our students have additional needs such as sensory needs or a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC).
We provide a three-year course developed in line with the ‘Preparation for Adulthood’ themes of Employment, Independent Living, Friends Relationships & Community, and Good Health.
Our Curriculum page gives more detail about the programme of work and the qualifications our students are working towards. We also continue to work on core skills like communication, functional literacy and numeracy.
We offer work experience placements with local employers and training for independent living skills.
