The Downs View Life Skills College is part of the wider Downs View network, made up of Downs View School, Downs View Link College (both maintained specialist provision in Brighton and Hove for 2-19 year olds) and the Life Skills College itself, which is an Independent Specialist Provider with charity status.
Across the network we have clearly defined ways of working with and teaching our complex population which deliver high standards consistently over time. It is this organisational culture, integrity and strategic capacity that ensures that the Life Skills College is of equally high standard.
The Teaching Staff
Many of the Life Skills College staff have worked on our other sites and are therefore fully inducted and immersed in our outstanding practice. All staff will continue to have access to the full range of training available to all Downs View staff as part of our comprehensive staff development programme.
Downs View Life Skills College is run by well qualified, dedicated and experienced staff who provide a personalised and collaborative approach to learning. Each member of staff knows how important independence is to our students and they work consistently in supporting them to become more independent.
All the teaching staff have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and it is our absolute intention that all learning be planned by fully qualified teaching staff.
You will be able to find out more about staff members in our Meet the team page.
As Downs View Life Skills College is a charity it is governed by a board of trustees. As well as the usual trustee duties to ensure the charity is carrying out its purposes for the public good, our trustees also engage in quality assurance very much as governors do in relation to Downs View School. For more information about our Trustees please go to the Accountability page.
