Welcome to the Downs View Life Skills College website.
I am very proud to be the new Executive Headteacher for Downs View School, Link College and Downs View Life Skills College from September 2020.
I have been a Deputy Head at Downs View for 2 years based at the Link College and then more recently the Woodingdean site. Prior to this I was Deputy Head at Downs Park School. I am committed to ensuring the best outcomes for all children and young people with learning difficulties through outstanding education and care. I am privileged to be taking over this role from Adrian following an outstanding Ofsted and will ensure that the strong Downs View ethos and commitment to all our learners continues.
It is an exciting time for Downs View in the Autumn Term. The building works at the school will be completed and the pupils and staff on the current Hollingdean site will move over to the Woodingdean site. Our school community will expand and I am hopeful that this will bring new opportunities for all our learners, parents and staff.
In September many learners will be returning to the College after a long time at home and we will all be adapting to living life in new ways. I hope we will soon be able to return to a time when we can welcome parents and carers back to the sites but until this time please keep in touch and let us know how we can continue to support you.
I hope to be able to meet more of you in person over the Autumn term.
Vanessa Hickey

The EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS)deadline is 7 July 2021. If you are an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen, you may be eligible to apply to the Settlement Scheme.
It is crucial that eligible parents apply to the Scheme themselves and check whether they need to do so on behalf of their children. Eligible children are required to have an application in their own right and no child of any age is covered by a parent’s application to the EUSS.
An EUSS leaflet has been produced, designed with children in mind. A set of accompanying FAQsare also available too.
